Every year around this time seems to be the moment where one does reflections of the past 365 days that have gone by. Well, I'm no different. Year 2007 is a year full of ups & downs for me. It is a year where I faced changes, departures and emotional struggles. Somehow, I feel I've grown to be a better and stronger person. Here are 7 memories of 2007 I had.
1. I left the job I had for 3 years
It was a major struggle and the biggest decision I ever made so far in my life. It being my first job and one done for 3 years, was one of wonderful memories with my lovable ex-colleagues (now friends).
2. The farewell party my ex-colleagues threw for me
With the agenda of making me really drunk, my ex-colleagues threw me a farewell party. I didn't get drunk of course, but was really tipsy and high. And that was when I drank my first flaming lamborgini.
3. The letter my darling at work wrote to me on my last day at my ex-company
Ahhh...this is an emotional one. This particular ex-colleague I'm very close with, (we call each other darling btw..hehe!) wrote me a card on my last day. I told myself I will not cry on my last day but because of her card, I broke down. She's one great friend I made...darling, I miss you!
4. How I cried for 3 hours straight (from in the taxi to all the way I got hme, until I fell asleep)
This was after my farewell party. When the party finally ended and I was tucked away in a cab, I started sobbing uncontrollably. It suddenly struck me that I will never see my bunch of lovable then colleagues (almost) everyday again. The jokes we laughed about, the gossip we shared, the calories we distributed to each other, the woes we poured to each other...all packed away together with 3 years worth of memories and the junk that was once on my old work table.
5. Start of my new job with a very nice boss & better prospects
I'm very thankful for my new job and my very nice boss. I can't say I love my current job, but it gives me the sense of satisfaction my previous job failed to bring me after 1 year. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and I see this job as a my career's turning point.
6. Having to have met my ex-sensei (Japanese teacher)
I'm very very very very glad to have met my A.I sensei. Thanks to her, my perspective of things and people changed. She opened up my heart and mind and taught me how important it is to live for yourself. I received an email from her slightly before Christmas, all the way from Japan. ね池田先生、お世話になりました。先生に会った、とても良かったです。先生のおかげで、私は今元気で活きています。ありがとう！先生が大好きです！
7. Finally took my first JLPT!
After procrastinating for so long, I finally took up Japanese courses last year. And because I had been so lazy, I missed the chance to take JLPT year after year. Finally, I managed to take Level 3 this year. The result's only gonna be released next year, so let's hope year 2008 brings me good news!
Thank you Year 2007, and I shall embrace you with love...Year 2008!
